Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
- Can infusions be entirely self-administered without a caregiver’s assistance?
- Many patients have successfully self-administered RADICAVA® IV in the comfort of their home. An Innomar Nurse will conduct a complete assessment to determine whether you are eligible for self-infusion and the level of assistance you may require.
- If assisted by a caregiver, which steps of the self-infusion process do they help with?
- Before you begin self-infusions, you and your caregiver will receive training with an Innomar Nurse to ensure you are comfortable with the infusion process. After training, your caregiver may assist you with any step(s) that you need help with. This may include steps such as connecting the IV line to the Peripheral IV, PICC or PORT-A-CATH, which is a common area for caregiver support.
- Has anyone transitioned from a Nurse infusion to a self-infusion?
- Several patients who have initially been assisted by a Nurse for infusions have later transitioned to self-infusion after becoming more comfortable with their technique and treatment.
- Where is the best place to do my infusion?
- Please choose a well-lit, uncluttered room with a comfortable area to sit in during infusions. Ensure that there is a large counter or surface that can be cleaned and disinfected before and after your infusion, which can support a table-top IV stand for your medication. More details will be provided during your self-infusion training conducted by an Innomar Nurse.
- Is it possible to transition to another infusion method?
- If you are not comfortable with self-infusion, you may transition to another infusion method. Please contact the MTP Patient Support® Program to discuss and arrange for alternative infusion methods and locations.
- What self-infusion training will be provided?
- Before you begin your self-infusions, an Innomar Nurse will provide you with comprehensive infusion training, with a minimum of 3 sessions, each taking approximately 1-2 hours. Additional training sessions can be provided either in-person or virtually, where an Innomar Nurse will help ensure you are comfortable with the infusion process. You can also access additional resources, such as the self-infusion videos available to you here.
- What do I do if I’m not sure about a step in the self-infusion process?
-
If you would like to review the steps involved in self-infusion, you can watch the videos that are available for each mode of infusion (Peripheral IV, PICC or PORT-A-CATH) here.
If you have additional questions or concerns about the self-infusion process, please contact the MTP Patient Support® Program who will help make arrangements for you to speak with an Innomar Nurse.
- If I forget a step, can I call a Nurse to go over it again?
- If you have any questions regarding the self-infusion process, please contact the MTP Patient Support® Program. If needed, they will help you schedule a follow-up appointment with an Innomar Nurse who can assist you.
-
After contacting a Nurse, how quickly can I expect a response back?

However, if you have any urgent questions or concerns and your Nurse does not respond immediately, please contact the MTP Patient Support® Program.
